Long time no write
Alright alright there is no need to tell me. I am well aware at how pathetic it is that I haven't made another post sooner. Well to be honest I have not done as much training as I had planned to before. Despite this I am still confident that I will be in good shape to still do this ride. I have been doing small/medium ride off and on for the past three weeks or so. On a good week I am riding as many as 4 days going about 20-25 miles a ride. To you non-cyclists keep in mind that my ride will be about 90 miles a day so a 20 mile ride is a good workout but not a huge ride. I have been slowly getting back in biking shape averaging on a good day about 17 mph. However I feel like I have hit a wall that I can only break through once I actually start making to the gym and lifting weights. Cycling does not build up a lot of leg muscles on its own but obviously if you increase your leg muscles by lifting weights you will improve your riding by a lot. I also got a cool new bike computer, since I lost my old one on my move back home from college. With the reading I have been doing about how to train and improve your cycling skills it suggests that heart rate is a good indicator of your workout. So my bike computer has a heart rate monitor built into it, and it has been a very cool tool for me to have and watching my heart rate. Since it has been so long since I have last posted I obviously have a lot more to tell you about preparing for my ride, but I will save that for another post. I promise that it will not nearly be as long between posts this time.
